PDT_Jim
Hello, My office has a number of older PCs that we are hoping to use as a render farm. They are as follows: Micron Millenia XRU Micron Millenia XKU Micron Millenia XKU Micron Millenia Pro2 Micron Millenia Pro2 Micron Millenia Pro2 They are all currently running NT and have between 64MB and 128MB RAM. We can't buy new ones, but want to know if these are viable for rendering help for our single new AMD athalon PC. We are fairly new to MAX. We are running Max6 to create Architectural still renderings and some animations. The question is: What are the minimus requirments, both OS and hardware, that can be used for render farm machines? We are not looking for what will give us the best, just trying to rule out CPU's that won't meet the requirements and/or upgrade them if they are close... Thank you for reading my inquiry, Best regards, Jim
Devin Johnston
As long as the pc will meet the minimum requirements that Max 6 has listed then you will be able to use it as a server machine on your render farm. Even with a slower machine if you have enough of them it can make a big difference.
