LukeC
Hi guys, this is a rather important one as we are trying to get a render out by a certain deadline and are having a few issues. We are rendering a large scene with a number of xrefs and large maps (mainly as tiff) out as tiff frames with alpha at 720x576. The computers we are using are about 30 pc's that are a mixture of Dell Precision 340, 360 and 370 with a couple of the 370's with extra ram and upgraded video cards. On all the computers we have enabled the 3gb switch (that you can find info on around the place on other threads) so that we dont run into any memory problems. Now its not particularly the 340's that we are worried about as they are generally crap but all our 360's arent rendering because, according to the queue monitor, 'An unexpected exception has occured in the network renderer and is terminating'. So this means we are stuck with only the small amount of 370's to render with. Although they are good pc's, there is a small number of them and progression is rather slow, especially since we have to render out of office hours. Ive had IT and our cad providers tech support trying to help out but with no luck. I was wondering if anyone know what could cause an 'unexpceted exception' and how to remedy it. Also, just to note, we HAVE used those machines before. They have regularly been a part of the network render with previous versions of the scene, but it seems with our latest version they arent doing anything. Im suspecting it might be a memory issue, but I cant seem to work out a way to get them working. Ive tried going through the scene to see what might be different as apposed to before but the fact that some computers will render throws me a little. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance, Luke
pickle
We just had this problem this morning as it happens. it probably is a memory issue, the cause for us was the ray server in brazil. It was set to high performance and as soon as we changed it back to the default the animation rendered fine. Hope this helps, Rich
