Reflectivity Options

It's no secret that Raytraced Reflections add crunch time to your scenes. I have a few questions regarding the matter however:

Are there any choices other then Raytraced materials to yield this effect (I mean realistic reflections)?

What is the difference between using a Raytraced Material and adding a Raytrace Map to the reflection channel of a standard material?

Is either way quicker then the other?

When should or shouldn't you use Flat Mirror for reflections - How is this different from Raytrace?

(Looks like TED B. just wrote up a Tut. on Arch. Glass - Better read it eh?)

I'm also finding it difficult to get my surfaces to glare or flare when looking at the sun light/light source indirectly through the glass.

As always, Thanks in advance - MegaPixel

Hi

- Another option to rayrace is the Reflect/Refract Map is usually a little quiker but not as versitile as raytrace, (u can also get triky with bitmaps of images ude like to reflect (just put them in the reflect channel instead of raytrace, then u can animate them or do whatever)

- Raytrace map has a few different controls like attenuation, and usualy renders faster than material.

- Flat Mirror works just like the name, use it if u have a flat mirror, the difference from raytrace is that flat mirror works better because it reflects more of the souroundings to simulate a mirror better.

- The max Reference has better discriptions of all of these

Hope this helps
