jtho
Newbie question for everyone: I have a contour model that I've modelled in AutoCAD. Each 2-foot increment of elevation is represented by an extruded polyline. I have imported the model into 3DS 7 so that each is a separate polymesh. My problem arises when I try to apply a material to these polymeshes, namely a grass material. I can see a change in the shaded color of the polymeshes and it renders as a darker green than otherwise, but there is no texture/map to it. If I draw a line shape next to it in 3DS and extrude that in 3DS, and render the exact same situation, the grass material renders on the new polymesh, but not those that I've imported. Does anyone know why this is happening? I tried to get around it by creating a new shape from my imported polymeshes, but I keep winding up with an outline consisting of planes in the Z-axis instead of a line that I can extrude...I'm out of ideas... Chad Warner
have you tried applying a UVW map to the imported object?
