skogskalle
hey guys! The architecture in this project is so bad it hurts my eyes everytime I look at it, but on the other hand Im very happy with how the image itself is turning out... the lightbrownish building in the middle is the new one... (a temporary office complex), all the others are existing buildings ive recreated from some photos... Ive spent 2 days on this now. the deadline is friday, so theres no rush yet... what do you think of the contrast? I kinda like it, but maybe its a little too much... Rendered with Vray (with low settings, bad AA etc) , no post-work added, just straight outta MAX thanks in advance!
IC
How to make something like that appealing? I think you've done a really good job with what you have. It looks a lot 'happier' than the architecture suggests. Windows could do with a bit of life. Once you up the AA etc I'm sure it'll be a good render. skogskalle
thanks Iain! "How to make something like that appealing?" well, its a dirty job, but someone´s gotta do it.... =) agree about the windows... guess im gonna have to put some trees and stuff behind the camera for the windows to reflect... thomas+son
Looks good, Maybe you could render it at midnight, with low lighting you have done the best with a temp bldg. (i have seen final bldg like that) david thomas
DennisHolland
Good job Skogskalle. But what is it with the shadows on the wall, caused by the windowblinds on the building in the middle? Is that wall a texture or a displacementmap in vray? I think you could improve it a lot but I don't know how to be honest. It doesn't affect the atmospere and I just saw in a second look but it's there.... (are those 3D people from the new Axyz collection or lowpolygon3D perhaps? Very nice for middle distance) Overall I think it's a nice, clean render. Good luck man....
skogskalle
thanks guys! really appreciate your comments... thomas+son : no time for a night version im afraid... gonna wrap this up and render the print-version tomorrow. The design of the temp-building isnt mine, im just a rendermonkey =) As I see it, the problem isnt the design of the building... for what it is, it looks decent... the problem is where they placed it. its just crammed in between all the existing buildings... very strange. dennisholland - I dont see the problem with the shadows from the blinds... could you explain some more?? The wall material of the temp-building has Vray displacement, and just a solid color for diffuse - no texture (!). If I have time ill probably try to improve this, but I think it looks pretty OK as it is. yup - the people are from axyz. I bought one of their collections yesterday and Im very happy with it. They look photoreal from a distance, and some of them look really good up close too! the only problem i have with them is that all women look like guys up close... its like they took a mans head and just put some long hair on top - really creepy. - but again, from a distance, they all work fine. skogskalle
its been awhile since I finished this one... but I thought I should post the final version.... Pretty much the same image... a few designchanges from the client, some desaturation and better AA.
