Hello there.

Im having this issue with MAX, it started about 2 days ago, i guess i changed something without knowing, some preset i guess.

I import a DWG file into MAX, and when i try to draw lines, create solids or move them along the base drawing, the MAX snaps doesnt quite "align" with the base drawing.

FOr instance, if I want to make a wall, I model a BOX with my SNAPS on, it seems like im aligning with the base DWG drawing, hoever when i zoom in closer, i see that the BOX and the base drawing doenst quite align, why is this happening.?

it's none of the above. it's a scale units issue. happens a lot with architectural projects and client files having different scale specified either in autocad or in max. scale the whole frickin thing 12 times or a 100 times bigger (feet or meters) and everything will work out fine except you will have to draw all new stuff with the new scale in mind, multiply or divide...etc..

or you can reset the scene, setup the units correctly and re import the cad. and start all over. you can also use the xform modifier or reset xform utility, but I haven't used those much I scale and calculate. In fact this happened to the project I am working on because the previous user of my system had the autocad output set to inches instead of feet and max is set to feet and I had to multiply by 12 to escape this "3D virtual grid" as I call it.

the precision module depends on the units and scale of the model. in this regards max is behind ohter software where you don't lose accuracy when you work in smaller scales.
