rcase
Hello, I am having a hard time mapping a road texture to a curved road object. I lofted a road section on an arc shape and would like to map the road texture to it lining up the road stripe in the texture to the middle of the lofted object. How is this done? Mapping a linear texture to a curved surface has me stumped, please help. Thanks. Rusty
Chad Warner
When you create the lofted object, there is an option for "uvw mapping" , where you can tell it how many times to tile along the length and width. So you want to set up your material like you normally would, apply it to the loft, and then you will probably have to rotate the map in the material editor to make it line up with direction you want it go. It takes a lot of messing around, but you can get it to work. Check out Ted Boardman's tutorials on this site, he goes over lofting quite a bit. -Chad
rcase
Thanks. I got it to work by adding Unwrap UVW modifier. That's the only way I could get it to work. Theres a sample pic below.
bokkins
just a suggestion. staight line instead of broken lines for the curve, b'coz it means "no changing lanes on a curve".
