Viz 4 question....

Recommended Posts

Does anyone run Viz 4 and Mozilla Firefox (web browser) on their comp?? I've been having problems with Viz (see post below), and I think the problems started around the time that I installed and started using Firefox....

Anyone now?

Thanks in advance!

SP 2 for both Viz and Windows.

windows - go into the windows control panel, and check if you have a security center and firewall option/icon. if not, then you only have SP1 installed. goto microsoft's site and d/l it for free.

viz - look in the help menu in About Viz.

OK....i had the Windows SP2...which I've uninstalled. Now (drumroll) VIZ works!! I had tried numerous times installing the viz update for the windows sp2, but it never solved the problem.

now, is the fact that I've uninstalled the windows service pack a bad thing? I'm not even sure what it does. I'm familiar with the Security center and all...but what other things are affected?

Thanks again for all your help

if you have a generally good security package on your machine anyway ie, a good firewall (zonealarm or something) and things like Ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, MS antispy ware, and AVG anti-virus for example, you wont really need the extras that winSPII supplies.

But, it's generally a good idea to have winSP2 installed. it's the latest up to date windows package with allot of general security leaks all patched up, IE is safer (altho if you running FF it doesnt matter) and before long you wont be able to d/l any new critical updates if you havent got sp2 installed.

try out the link Dibbers posted for Viz 4 and SP2. report back here with the results :)

also, keep checking mozilla's site for new FF updates. they been updating it allot recently. FF is now on version 1.0.3

strat:

I have tried in the past to load Autodesk's viz update that supposedly allows viz to run when Windows SP2 is installed, but it never fixed the problem.

I have noticed that my computer seems to boot up a little slower since last night, but once it's done loading everything, it runs fine....Is there an updated Windows SP2 (or 3?) yet? I'm guessing I installed SP2 last novemeber or so (at least, thats the first time I started experiencing problems with Viz...

Like I've said...I don't know too much about all these updates and whatnot

Thanks
