Tim Nelson
Does anybody know how I can do this kind of effect in Photoshop? If there isn't a way, is there a free plug-in for PS that can do this? Thanks
STRAT
cant you just as easily do it in 3d?
IC
Hundreds of Photoshop based graphic designers have bought 3d apps just to do that kind of thing alone (my mate being one.) Piece of cake and you can animate etc.
Tim Nelson
Yeah, I guess.. I was hoping for something a little more simple & Photoshop based though, so I can easily make changes to it, see it against my subject etc. But I guess I will try the 3d way unless anyone else has a better idea. Tim Nelson
Hmm, interesting. Looks like it takes a bit of practice to get the hang of. Thanks.
DennisHolland
Tim, I used to use this a lot back in the late 90's to have some cool webtext. I'm sure they have developed it a lot since then. Here's a free, fully functional trial. It's very userfriendly, a text like that is done in minutes. http://www.xara.com/downloads/xara3d/ Enjoy, Dennis
Tim Nelson
Thanks! Thats a good one. Too bad the demo saves out a watermark.. Not sure I'm ready to spend $45 on something I'll probably only use once.
Chad Warner
Looks like your back to the 3d method then.
Tim Nelson
Or no method at all since I'm too lazy! Strat's got me figured out. No, I actually decided not to do it afterall, but thank you everyone for your input. The Xara program is really quick & easy, and I would definitely use it again if the need ever arises. DennisHolland
There is a trick in photoshop to do this sort of effects but it takes a lot of time. It's all about cloning/scaling layers and offset it to any direction you want then glue it together. If I remember correctly, there is a specific custom action somewhere for download. Anyway, the initial question was regarding Photoshop and here's a link to a great all-in site, founded by Bob Pankaala (pank) and it's been around for many years now... http://www.teamphotoshop.com Regards, Dennis
Tim Nelson
Wow that website looks great! Since I'm self taught in Photoshop, I don't know half the tools & techniques that I really should. Thanks again.
