superdave
Hey guys as some of you now I recently went to work for a new company. Well the administrator isn't very good at his duties and I have been asked to help him out. The problems are that I have no privilages to use my scanner, my 3d max, or my 3d viz. The only way that I can work on these programs is to be logged on as the administrator and this is not possible due to the office policies. We are using windows 2000 with a new server in the office. Are there settings I can suggest that she might check or change to allow me to have those privlages without giving me total access to everything? i know this is a weird question and appreitiate any help
Greg Hess
First you can try poweruser access...but I'm guessing that doesn't work. I work as a system admin to the university of maryland life science department, and were now 80+ machines and going strong. Every individual has admin access to their own machine. However they also have a secondary account to use network resources, such as the server and domain. Admin access is NECESSARY for proper functionality of windows, and many programs will not function correctly without it. So here's the quick solution... Have the administrator setup a localadmin account for that particular machine. You can setup a localadmin and still restrict network access to a server or what not. Just have a seperate login for any type of server work you need to do. Aka one login for the domain as a normal user, one login locally as an admin.
