Bohshead
Hi guys, Maybe someone could help me out here. Every time I create an animation in Max, it is razor sharp in quality, yet when I play it back in the standard windows media player, it gets very blurred. There is a definite reduction in quality. Can somebody tell me where I'm going wrong. Thanks.
Tommy L
What are you using to compress the frames into a movie and what format is the movie?
Bohshead
All I do is save the rendered file out in an AVI format and play it back. Should I be compiling individual frames instead ? I am an ok still image modeller but not too hot on the animation side of things.
DennisHolland
I'm not very into animation myself but I do know that you can control the compression of an AVI output before rendering the frames.
J.R.
most people use the first CODEC in the list which is alphabetically the "cinepac codec by radius" which is a relatively old codec with bad quality compared to modern codecs. So this is a bad choice. i personally have made good experiences with the xvid codec. its freeware, the filesizes are small and the quality is very good. However the best to do ist to save an animation as single images and put it together in a video-editing software later.
tony3di
Go for Quicktime .mov's... Great quality and lots of options of compression. Must install latest quicktime player first. Tony Rebelo
Bohshead
Thanks guys, but I got the same poor results when I played it in quicktime. I know I'm doing something wrong here but I just don't know what it is.
