Interior - Hotel Room

Hello... My name is Thiago Campos and this is my first post here. I have been stalking the forum for quite some time though. I must say that this is a bucket full of knowledge and I'm benefiting alot from it. Thank you for all the helpful posts.

I'm a newbie when it comes to CG compared to most of you guys and gals. I study architecture/urbanism in Brasília/Brazil (4th period) and have always loved computers. So it's only natural I took the 3d path...

I've been fussing with 3ds max/photoshop for less than a year. In feb I had lessons with Ricardo Eloy (your friendly mod) and that sure pushed me in the right direction. Now I'm learning from the net (mostly with search funtions in forums) and by playing around.

Enough of the indroduction... Here is one of the projects I'm working on. A Hotal Room. Only for portfolio purpose, no clients.

I appreciate as much feedback as you guys can handle... I'll be putting up alot of images and want you to be very picky and help me out with what you can.

Fire away!

Welcome to the forums Thiago.

I think the textures, and the lighting looks good. Well since this is purposely for your portfolio, I would consider some of my suggestions:

1. It doesn't feel like a Hotel room. It looks like a small room, with a large bed. I would suggest a different camera angle. Maybe just pulling it back, or move the target more to the left, so you can see more of the space..

2. Design element - The curved glass shelves beside the bed gives we the willie's For those of us that roll around in bed. I wouldn't look forward to having glass in the forehead :)

3. Another design element - I like your lighting, but there should also be some sort of lighting next to the bed, or on the wall just above the bed. Maybe you have the Clapper installed... Clap twice an the lights go on, or off :)

Great start though

Hehe... Nice tips.

The room was my aunt's project and it wasn't intended to be a hotel room. I just did it like that so I could put towels on the bed and whatnot.

I agree about the glass... That is kinda scary.

I think I'll change the cam angle a bit, maybe include a frigobar...

I'll pull the bed forward also so it doesn't align with the glass. Then maybe add magazines and a remote near the bed.

  • 2 weeks later...

if your aunt really sleeps on this bed take out the glass shelves from the real bedroom not from this rendering for her safety. My 3 year old baby refuses to sleep alone and keeps kicking me out of the bed to the floor every night, if that was my bed, I would end up with this glass stuck in my skull :) at least I will have a good night sleep at the hospital...
