paul Ison
Hi everyone, Im looking into the possibility of using viz 2005 to animate people using bip or bvh motion capture data with lowpolygon3d people in a large architectural development. I know viz has some basic IK functions but I cant find a way of loading this data...does it require character studio? I know the other option is to use RPC animated people but I am also using vray which has a few problems animating people. I also know that I could overcome this by rendering the RPC's on a seperate pass using the standard renderer. Second big question is how to animate water in viz2005? Ive tried animating noise as you would in max, but this doesnt work in viz. Im guessing I'm limited to animated textures for water? If i use something like dreamscape can I use this with viz to animate water and will this be geometry or texture based animation? Those are my main questions, Im going well with learning vray for stills, but now clients are asking for more animation. The next stage for me is animating cars and people, so any help here is going to be very usefull! Thanks in advance, Paul
3dp
bottom line is you'll need to move to max viz is quite limited in it's animation capability max has features i'll never use but being able to fully animate materials and objects plus particles and of course character studio most of the viz toys reside in max when i moved up from viz i didn't look back case in point for people animate a crowd walking via particles head down to your bookstore and lokk at the max fx/tricks books and you'll whats availible for free (aiside from the preice of book andmax upgrade learning time etc
Arnold Gallardo
An easier solution would be to animate evrything in Motionbuilder and import them as FBX files in VIZ.
paul Ison
Thanks, I had a look at prices for motionbuilder...about $1000 US This is a resonable alternative to a max upgrade but how can i be certain that the animations will import into viz? maybee ill see if theres a demo first. If i stick with viz, the only option really is RPC. Ive been mucking around with that but its not going the best eg. Trying to make a car start its animation somewhere other than at 0 on the timeline
ihabkal
Dreamscape for water. RPC people on a different pass. only feasible solution.
Wayne Harney
http://www.vizdepot.com/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=8 Link to making animated water in viz. Works especially well with vray displacement. Cars are easy with viz, just use IK. People... limited to RPC or similar.
Arnold Gallardo
Motionbuilder PE (version 4.0 I think it was) was once bundled with some european magazines as well as now downloadable with the new version being out now? Many people use this not only for importing animated data and geometry but also as a geometry file translator from one app to another as long as they have FBX plugins. r_kh_ng
Please help! "If i stick with viz, the only option really is RPC. Ive been mucking around with that but its not going the best eg. Trying to make a car start its animation somewhere other than at 0 on the timeline" I'm having trouble with making my car in the animation start at a frame other than 0. SO frustrating! How do you change this? Is there any way?! I'm running in VIZ 2007. Thanks! Rob
