Does anyone know of a free stair plugin for Max?

do not know of a free plugin for stairs but cebas has got a stairmax plygin that is fairly decent. Also max has stair builder within a program, however it is not as sophisticated. Hopefully that helps...

I know about the stair builder in Max, but it's quite crude.

 

I also know about StairMAX, but you know what it's like going to your boss and asking to buy more kit!

 

So any other ideas would be appreciated.

stair max only has a slight edge over the max stair plug

from memory it'll do the baluster upright but still falls on the landing strings

 

i'm not sure if it'd save much in erms of ££/time

In all the years I've made stairs in 3d I've never had a stair that I could make using wither max or a plugin, I've always made them from scratch.

Same here. It just seems that if I'm going to be doing a rendering of a space that has a staircase in it, that staircase will be something very custom and therefore something that probably won't be able to be built parametrically.

there's a free stair plugin, you don't have to install it. it's using shapes and extruding them within max.
