AJLynn
I have a Quadro4 900 XGL with a slowly failing fan unit. Probably not under warranty, got it used a few months ago (at the price I found it for, I'm not complaining). I'm not entirely sure what to do about this. Anybody have experience with replacing the fan on one of these things and can give me advice? Like, if I get one of the generic ones they sell on Newegg will that work? Is there a standard screw placement scheme so these are all the same, or would it be asking me to do something stupid like glue the heatsink to the chip and then clip the fan on that? Or, since I also have an old Quadro4 750 XGL that I'm not using, am I better off taking the fan from that and acknowledging that I'll never have a use for the 750 anyway? ihabkal
I don't know how to solve your dilemma but I had a 980XGL and you know what, these cards are too slow for todays' technology. I don't have a professional card at the moment since paypal took my new computer money but If I had my money back I would get a swheheehet one Tsssssssss.! AJLynn
Yeah I know, they're not that good by today's standards, but it's not that bad either and like I said I got it cheap, couldn't afford a newer one.
DrFx
What's wrong with the 900XGL? It's not that slow, especially on maxtreme. I replaced my fan with a CoolViva heat pipe (I think it's from coolermaster) and it works, but the I had to connect the fan to the motherboard because the connector was nonstandard. Go figure! There are several similar solutions on the market now from thermaltake, etc. Mine is virtually silent. There are screw thingies on the card, so that's no problem. AJLynn
Thanks, I'll have to check that one out. (And nothing's wrong with the 900, when it's not making horrible fan noises
