doujay888
I have attached an image highlighting the graphics which supposed to have a backlit glow, however im not getting the effect in Vray. Is there anyway to produce such effect in Vray? Im using photometric lights and one direct light(exterior light). Software Max 6. Any help please. My dealine is 3 hours from now. Thanks! Tim Nelson
I really wouldn't know how to render an effect like that, but would recommend that you just do it in photoshop as long as you aren't doing animation.
Creapix
Change the backlit material to a vraylightmtl with red color (the color you want it to emit), and that's it.
doujay888
Change the backlit material to a vraylightmtl with red color (the color you want it to emit), and that's it. well, i've heard about vraylightmtl before however I don't have that in my vray version 1.09. if ever it's where can i find the vraylightmtl, is this an additional plugin for vray? dennis
Creapix
No, just login into your vray account at http://www.vrayrender.com and download the latest beta. Be careful to read all compatibility/differences issues you should have with 1.09 and 1.46.15 Btw, good work on your scene.

glenoe12
Assign a standard material and give it a 100 self illumination. To create a slight glow effect, first assign a unique object id number on the object. Create a glow effect and assign the same object id number (takes time to experiment on the intensity and size though). Good luck pre!
sunet
I know it might be too late for u to use in this project ..but anyways I usually create a vray light pointing the opposite side like in the attached image.

Eric Sosa
just to confirm, tho I know th the thread it is way too old: there is no "volume effect" to apply to any vray material. it can ONLY be applied to an standard ligth or mesh.
