Arnold Sher
well, here is an annoying probem... Busy compiling an animation that we have rendered in 3dstudio max in jpeg format. Than we put it togetther with the ram player and brought into premier. The annoying issue is that the 3 minute is rather jurky after we've compressed into .wmf(windows media file). We've tried to compress into .avi and mpeg2 but to no avail. Is there something we can do make the motion smoother... Help!!!!! Thank you
ihabkal
make an uncompressed avi, then use this tool to make an executable self playing version that you can give to people who don't know how to open windows movie player. compresses great and plays smoothly. Blizzard used it in their game Warcraft 3 http://www.radgametools.com/ bink video. it's free. Also you can use Divx but the client needs to install the codec. it's free too http://www.divx.com both give amazing quality. Bink doesn't allow you to use the cursor to sift through the animation (move slider to go back and forth) it doesn't have a slider. so it plays from start to end and you watch. pmanahan
We have had good results out of Aftereffects outputting a photojpeg at 50% quality. pmanahan
DennisHolland
Flash MX 2004 has great video-options. Bring the uncompressed AVI or the complete jpeg sequence into flash and record > save as an FLV. It's converted to high quality vector so only that will bring the weight down while quality stays very acceptable. It's worth to dive into the capabilities of these Flash tools because in my opinion the gap will be fairly closed in the next upcoming Macromedia (Sorry, Adobe) releases. Follow up is the publishing possibilities. You can satisfy your client with publication in a nice 'Captivate' shoot-out or a custom webpage for mass-presentation. Interesting future for anims > marketing/communication I think. Dennis
STRAT
it also depends on how big in pixel size the animation is, how fast the pc playing it back is, and never rely on playing it directly through the cd drive.
Tommy L
What version of premiere? If its pre-cs then it cant handle bringing in whole animations then outputting them again as it invariably runs into recompression issues. Just bring the jpegs straight into premiere instead of using the ram player. Then you can compress the clip in premiere as an avi, mpeg or whatever you want.
