opacity map isn't quite transparent

Here's the offending result:

So the red line indicates the boundaries of the geometry and the green line is the boundaries of the opacity map's opaque-ness.

 

You can see it's semi transparent instead of transparent. Is it something to do with picking up shadows from somewhere? I thought it might be a vray object-properties issue but can't really find anything significant... maybe telling vray to not cast shadows from opacity map alpha... *shrug*

Hmm, I fixed it but I don't know how.

 

At first I changed the UVW from planar to box (as it has a slight amount of depth) and I figured that was it, but when I changed it back it went away. All I had done was make the mesh dense, pull to verts to get give it some folds here and there, move it along the Z axis a tad.

 

Ah well!
