  1. ok guys thx, I get the point. Probably you are watching this in 1920x1080, and they are probably resized, as the original images have a maximum of 800 pixels in the vertical axis. Plus, to make it faster, the jpgs are at a medium quality, thus the bluriness. I will try some better ones.
  2. i7 is great, 8 GB of RAM is great too, the graphics card is just ok, and the screen resolution of 1600x900 at 17'' could be better. But it sounds good
  3. I used a "Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000" for many years, super ergonomic for long hours, never had a problem with wrist pain, even when I was working 14-15 hours a day. I broke two of them, and Microsoft discontinued the model, so I got a Logitech Performance MX http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/mice/devices/5845 USB charging and works on my glass panel-on-wood office without any mouse pad, so it is really great!
  4. Hello people, It's been a while, so we decided to redesign our website. We offer architectural visualization, interior and graphic design services. Please check it out and leave any comments. We had a lot of troubleshooting sessions, and it still gives us some problems on older versions of Internet Explorer, but it should work fine on latest Mozilla and Chrome browsers. Thank you! http://www.visualbytes.gr
  5. thanks! I will check it out!

  7. The numbers that you are quoting, 168"*300dpi=50400, mean that the 25200x19800 pixel size is 150 dpi, not 300. One thing I always do in these cases is use photo enlargment software. I would render as high as I could (maybe something around 6-8K) and then use software like Photozoom Pro to enlarge the picture at 25K. Since you have enough information at 8K, enlarged 25K would not look bad at all, especially when this is designed to be seen from a certain distance. Don't use Photoshop for that, you need special algorithms to preserve image quality. Also, you could probably optimize the vray settings. Maybe post the settings along with a sample of your render? People here could help you lower the rendering time. I don't set the Irradiance map to High for example, I seldom find that the gains in picture quality worth the extra time.
  8. Well, I guess that woud be country dependant. Here in Greece, it would be something like 50/50, but now, due to the oncoming depression, a lot of small developers ceased building activities and my assignments come mostly from architectural offices.
  9. Well, just tried through my iPad and it does work. Tomorrow I will check it on my workstation, it really seems weird, or you brought me good luck. Thanks for your time!
  10. I bought Autograss sometime ago, but now that I got a new workstation and reinstalled all of my software, autograss tried to contact the server for license validation and failed. When I tried to navigate to the http://www.happy-digital.com/ website, google said that it could not be found, only a stored copy of its web pages is available. I am checking daily for a week now if the site is up again but ...nothing. Anyone knows if the product is discontinued or something? How can I validate my license so I can use it again? Thank you.
  11. great, thanks! I pulled a GTX260 from my wife's pc and tried it but the problem is exactly the same
  12. I have 3dsmax Design 2012 installed, with the hotfix applied. My GPU is an ATI 5750, and worked smoothly with 2010 and 2011. Eversince I installed 2012 (before and after the hotfix), whenever the files get polygon heavy I have the following problem: when I perform a viewport operation, such as pan or orbit or zoom or select, there is a lag of 1-2 seconds before I can do another one. This happens ONLY on perspective or camera views, shaded or not. The same thing does NOT happen on top or front/left/right views even there may be 8 million polygons on a shaded or wireframe view. It seems weird because if for example I do an orbit operation on a perspective viewport, it is really smooth on files of millions of polygons. but when I release the mouse button it freezes for 1-2 seconds. I presume it must be caching data on the GPU or something, but I can't be sure about that. I have the latest ATI drivers (11.5 suite) installed and max is using the Nitrous drivers, although the same thing happens with Direct X and OpenGL (they are a bit slower though) My question is: does anybody experience the same problem? Is it an ATI problem? Should I try an NVIDIA card?
  13. Solution here: http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-3ds-max--3ds-max-design-2011/error-parsing-xaml-file-root-element-missing/page-last/ I checked it and it really works.
  14. Two days ago, I loaded 3dsmaxdesign 2011, and got an XAML Parse error saying "error parsing xaml file: root element missing". I clicked ok, and it said that "The main Ribbon configuration file is possibly corrupt. Reset to factory defaults?". Answering either yes or no is the same thing, max starts with no ribbon (i.e. no object paint etc). Eversince, each time I load max I get the same error messages. I haven't found any way to restore ribbon within max, there is no such setting or right click that involves showing the ribbon. I am rather ready to uninstall and reinstall max, but does anyone have any idea? Also, uninstalling and reinstalling will require another authorization or the license data remain unaffected?
