  1. stick a black plane with 2 holes cut out for your regions in front of the camera
  2. try adding this line macros.run "Layers" "LayerManager"
  3. rename this to .ms instead of .txt and put this in *maxdir*/scripts/startup this is for max 2012, so not sure if earlier versions will work. edit// works in 2011 too
  4. Took a bit of trawling in the old noggin to remember this
  5. It has a good feel, but I think the sky is a tad too overcast for my liking. Good job!
  6. give modo a try, from what I have seen it is just lightwave+ (with a really nice renderer)
  7. Hmm, that doesnt sound good. Just had a quick try here: Created a shared folder on the server Started Adobe After Effects Render Engine (in prog files/adobe/after effects) It should then just scan the folder waiting for a job Made a comp in Ae and set all the outputs, then compacted all the files to 1 folder (as per the link above) Put that folder in the watch folder Rendering ahoy!
  8. Not exactly backburner, but you just setup a watch folder in after effects and get the renderslave to look for changes in that folder and render it. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WS3878526689cb91655866c1103a4f2dff7-79a2a.html
  9. You might want to try reinstalling the license server software, and moving the dongle to a different usb port.
  10. i have to disagree with this tom, the work was still produced by us: lighting texturing, landscaping rendering. what was used was a basic max model, so its hardly scalping someone elses image... a lot of work was put into the image all model credits have been applied to the image where used now, i will tweak the showreel when i get in tomorrow. at least the model has a name now, which is better than 'concept render'! lesson learned!
  11. Hi guys, we have just put together a little showreel for our work over the last few months. any comments appreciated http://vimeo.com/5437986 cheers!
  12. they loved it it was shown in the local art gallery on a huge projector and they were all invited, I think it's still showing for another week or so too.
  13. thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. the original brief was to produce something around 2mins long, but we just had so much work that the kids had done that we had to get in, it became clear we would never hit that target
  14. Hi all, We have just completed an interesting project for the local council. Basically a local artist did some workshops with kids about how they would change the town if they were put in charge. We then took their models and ideas and worked it into a big ol' animation. I have uploaded the whole thing to vimeo in glorious hd, although I seem to have deleted the one with the proper music composition we used... oh well, the temp track works just as well. Any comments appreciated. Clicky watchy Cheers Jaime
  15. We have just done our first 720p project, render settings were 1280x720 | Image aspect 1.778 | Pixel Aspect 1.0 Didn't really see the need to render out as tif files, full res jpegs looked perfect (and saved on hard drive space) Everything was comped together in after effects, and exported as an uncompressed mov (and a seperate one for dvd res). Then I ran it through Conopus Procoder 3 to get it out as a high def wmv (totally worth it, took all the pissing around out of video conversion) Shame the client opted for the dvd version. The hd one looked amazing through my xbox to hd projector
