  1. Hi, can anyone help with a problem that's been bugging me for years. I'm importing some very uncomplicated plans and elevs from an external architect into Max and am getting a warning window explaining 'The centre of the incoming model is located at..', then it basically explains that the imported tech will be miles away, (check the .jpeg included). This is making my job very time consuming as the geometry drawn in elevations is also being located miles form the plan and I have to scroll out miles to get it then scroll back in again. I've tried grouping the imported plans and giving them an X, Y and Z value of 0 in the section along the bottom of the screen, but they simply dont arrive in the same location as geometry drawn in the Top view port. Is there a way of doing this. Also is there something I could ask the Architects to do first before they send over the tech. Thanks.
  2. Hello everyone, As in the topic. I'm learning Cinema 4D intensively, I have some experience by now. And I would very much like to get into 3D visualisation. But I don't have access to professional architectural plans as a reference to learn. Can someone give me advice on how to get such plans, so that I can learn and use such made visualisations in my portfolio. Perhaps share done renders with the author of the plans. Or perhaps someone reading this post, an architect perhaps, has some free but complete plans to share. I would prefer digital, such as AutoCAD files or ArchiCAD or something of the sort. All help and advice is welcome. I appreciate it. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I thought I had this covered already because a few months ago I found a site with a bunch of tutorial PDFs which showed how to create a building from autocad files or from schematic plans etc. I think it was VisMasters but they don't seem to be around anymore? Anyone know of the tutorials I'm talking about OR (emphasise: OR) other tutorials that would guide me through working from plans. Thanks!
  4. I just got my copy of Detail in Contemporary Architecture today. It arrived 2 days ago, but work prevented me from getting it sooner. Impressions: Good, solid hardback book. Oversized (which I like). Broken down by materials into chapters - Concrete, Glass, Masonary, etc. NO DIMENSION LAYER in book (I haven't opened the DVD yet). There are usually something to go by - a scale at the bottom, labeled rooms with (rough) dimensions (i.e. room #7 20m x 15m) - no precise measurements. But you do get side elevations, top-down views and labels for the rooms. Photographs seem to accompany every floor plan and design. There are some very non-traditional houses (page 68). So if you've been wanting to do something besides the straight 4 walls and a roof house, then there are plans in this book. I'd love to model a number of these. With the current high Aussie dollar, it was well worth getting. I'll have a read through it this weekend. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or PM me.
