Artlantis R and Exposure Control

I'm evaluating software for some people in my office who would like to be able to do Sketchup to a decent render without needing to know anything as complicated as Max and somebody suggested Artlantis R.

I've got a demo copy, and wow, the interface sure is easy (so long as you don't expect it to make perfect sense), but my test images come out too bright. I think it's using (an imperfect) exposure control without telling me anything about it, and I can't find a setting for it - because if I turn down my lights to 10%, it comes out just as bright as when they were at 100!

Does anybody know Artlantis who can tell me what the deal is and how to fix it?

I don't seem to have that function. I don't think I like this software very much - they seem to have made their decisions based on ease of use more than anything else, and then it does dumb things that make it hard to use.
