CHE
I have used pretty much every 3D package out there for architectural modeling. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses. I think that once the user becomes proficient with his main modeling program there will be hardly anything he/she couldn't model. Sketch Up and Revit are very powerful but they are just not very user friendly IMHO. 3dsmax is my main modeling application just because it is the standard 3D software out there. I personally prefer to model in Modo. It is a very user friendly, fun to use, efficient and powerful software. One has just to play with its selection tools to realize how outdated 3dsmax has become. Modo is still under heavy development but 301 is a very solid release and if you not need to use RPCs nor particle systems then you should give it a try. Here is a little time-lapse architectural modeling video I recorded a while ago (Version 201). http://www.virtualgfx.com/Modo/IvanModel.mov
