Anyone out there have any success rendering SpeedTrees with a medium LOD using GI?

I am getting some nice looking trees with shadows, but my render times are going though the roof!

I have an 80+ machine farm, but the times are hitting 60+ minutes...too long for my animation!

Any suggestions?

Basically you will be using AO to simulate the sky shadows.

There are two methodes of use

the 1st (my prefered) is @ material level, eg use AO in either seft illumination or in diffuse level. Diffuse level is better. This dives control at material level

the 2nd is using it as a projector map on an omni set at 0,0,0. This will give global control.

Light your scene as you would in the good old days of Fakeocity, or use a skylight , MR area light and FG. With the FG route be aware of flickering, which wont be an issue with Fakeocity.
