Gerri4D
Well some trouble with glass (the glass block on the right wall). Any suggestion? Render time 3h Resolution 1024*768 GI bounce 2 undersample -1/2 AA -1/2 view rate 30, for the wall and the paver 50 http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=brasillepori3.jpg [ December 03, 2002, 05:29 AM: Message edited by: Gerri ]
marcos
There is extremally dark there, i think that you should use photon maps and regathering, or at least increase bounces to 5-
Gerri4D
Well, in my LCD monitor the brightness is ok, strange.... And for the glass can U help me?? Rgds
Craig Ramsay
Have you tried using the brazil glass material for the glass blocks? Two GI bounces is not enough for this type of scene, try 5 or 6 instead and maybe reduce the intensity of your sunlight because it is washing out detail. Gerri4D
Craig, with the brazil glass, the block appeare withe!! Next night I'll try GI bounce 5. Thks
Craig Ramsay
For the glass change your IOR refraction parameter to 1.0 and increase your IOR reflection parameter to about 9, you should start to get the look you are after in the glass
marcos
saying dark, i didnt mean that i can see nothing, i mean that there is a little bit too dark there if the sun/sky is so bright interior space should be much more brighter if u dont use brazil material, correct this, all materials in scene should be brazil mat., they bounce GI much better then normal materials, if you've got powerful machine you can try increase bounses to 4-5, but if your render time was 3h with b=2, with b=5 it can be even 12h [ December 13, 2002, 02:57 AM: Message edited by: ::mrcs:: ]

Gerri4D
Hi all, new render with photon map Render time 10h 38m !!!! One direct light with 30000 photons [Photons in Estimate] 200 [Max Search Radius] 80 For the rest like the first render settings www.ziggystar.supereva.it/Brazil2.html Too much time!!! No improve quality!!
Gerri4D
Well, Render time 1m on PIII 800 photons in estimate = 1000 search radius = 90 GI bounces = 1 view rate = 40 diffuse depth= 6 AA 1/2 But were are the indirectlight shadows, of the chairs on the paver? I must turn GI bounce=2 Right?
Dave Buchhofer
Gerri, when using photon mapping, the search radius is similar to the filtering value from viz, if the search radius is too big, and encircles an object, then it wont cast shadows via the photons.. the solution being i believe to lower the radius, and up the amount of photons coming from the light. Should be some slowdown, but not nearly as much as if you just used QMC. (Certainly not an expert, but i've had a little time to experiment.) marcos
hi Dave, that's what i've said to Gerri mayby this discussion should move to "third party renders" section ? it is really interesting problem how to get nice looking interior renders without waitng 10 hours or more. see, ya there (?) Gerri4D
Dave, ::mrcs:: , we can move to "third party renders" section, maybe is the right place for this discussion. I'll open a new post. Wait You Rgds
