3d max 8 serious error T_T

Hi guys, I am in need of serious advices and help. I recently got a copy of 3d max 8 from my classmate and that after installing it, even after many reboots, i still cant launch 3dsmax.exe. It just doesnt launch at all without any error message and loadings. It just doesnt load. However, 3dmax.exe appears in the Task Manager>Processes. Hhmm..

 

Really appreciate any help on it as i need it for my school projects urgently. =)
