uhofmann
Hi to all, I do a show room with a Light Sealing. I did a mock-up situation for testing the lights and materials. i setup 9 mr-omnilights over a translucent material with a glow (lume) on the diffuse material parameter. The walls have a material with no bump and structure at all. But as you see after the rendering i got this ugly structure over the walls. i uploaded also the renderingadjustments as a screenshot. This is done in 3dmax 2009 design with mental ray and mental ray materials. Thanks for hints and help Uwe
SandmanNinja
Hi, I've not used 2009, so take what I say with a bit of caution. The walls looks like maybe noise to me?? Looking at your settings, I'd tweak them a bit (what happened to the presets?!? oh my!) I'd set the Initial FG Density to 2 or 3 Rays per FG Point to 750 to 1000 Interp over num fg points to 75 to 100 Under sampling quality, I'd change minimum from 1/4 to 4 or 16. Yeah - try that and see if it gets any better.
Macer
You could try using a self illuminated A&D material with affect scene FG checked. Just crank the illumination level up till it looks right.
uhofmann
The hint with the selfillu-material was basically good for making the look of the lightsealing much more better but the basic prob of the stupid structure is still there. I'll try now the changing of the adjustments.
uhofmann
Hi SandmanNinja, thanks for the hints i let it render in this moment with different adjustments on different computers I'll inform you guys when i have the results. By the way, the design version of 3dmax works basically the same in the adjustments..... Exept that you cannot adjust the speckle reducer like in previous versions. Goodday to the other side of our planet Uwe

sardesign
that floor looks clean enough to eat off what is it a showroom for?
uhofmann
The Showroom is for a company which rents out and sells apartments and houses. The bar you see is for showing samples for Tiles, floormaterial wall paintings etc for the costumer can choose. The LCD Screen in the rear shows the illus we generate from the not fineshed appartments. There also two columns in the dead angle (look at the pictures) where they show windowstypes and installation goods for water and electricity. Germans are very keen in this things - Laugh.
