nisus
Hi All, When I render 32bit EXR from max and open them in photoshop, the bakcground automatically shows up 'transparant', i.e. the alpha is applied to the background layer. I find this very inconvenient. Does anyone knows a way to get the old 'full background' with an alpha channel in an exr (exported from max2009)? Tnx. rgds, nisus
BrianKitts
inside the plugins folder .... C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats you need to replace the OpenEXR.8BI file with the same file from an older version of photoshop. mattclinch
this annoys me too. as far as i understand it, it is down to the way that the latter versions of photoshop read the EXR format - which is that the EXR format has a transparency alpha rather than a alpha matte. the only workaround i've found is to use HDR instead. SandmanNinja
I remember something about EXR not working right, but that may have been an earlier version of Max.

Stephen Thomas
The other way would be to not include alpha in your image file and do it as a render element instead.
