whori Posted November 24, 2008 Share Posted November 24, 2008 Hey everyone, I got problem with material editor when using vray as my default render engine...Everytime I start max and open material editor i see Black mental ray's slots... but default render is vray...how can I fix this ? its a bit annoying I attached file how my max looks when i start it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Horhe Posted November 24, 2008 Share Posted November 24, 2008 (edited) Basically you are using the Mental Ray shaders here, instead of the Vray shaders. So as the two arent compatible, the Vray renderer is not capable of showing the MR materials in the slots. What you want to do, is use the Vraymaterial from the material editor, and not Mental Rays Arch and Design shaders, EDIT: O lol, yeah did not read your thread thoroughly. Nevermind skip this post! BrianKitts Posted November 24, 2008 Share Posted November 24, 2008 Under the customize menu select "custom UI and defualts switcher" then in the first selection list, select "MAX.vray" this will force max to open with all vray materials in your material editor.
