zoom with mouse wheel

I am using AutoCAD 2000 under W2K. I find the wheel zoom to be difficult. I have to be too careful in advancing the wheel 1 click per zoom without inadvertantly pushing down on it. Is there a way to improve on this? Ideally I'd like it to behave like the zoom function when it is selected from the pop up menu, interactive and smooth but able to be invoked "on the fly" during other commands.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi,

Set the zoomfactor (type it at the command line after prompt) to 10 or less. It should help, or if u like add the accelerator keys in menu file (ie acad.mnu at the end of file after the ***ACCELERATORS section) for instance:

["F2"] '_Zoom 2x ----- to zoom in

["F3"] '_Zoom .5x ----- to zoom out

It works transparently during other commands. Oh, and don't forget to reload the menu file after the changes (just type menu and select your menu file once again).
