V-Ray RENDERABLE SUN

Ok so the title pretty much speaks for its self here... Im struggling to get a V-Ray Sun to Render in the sky in front of my camera... iv got it sitting low in the sky between two buildings. there is a setting in the sun for Invisible which is off...

So Is it possible to get a V-Ray sun to render like a sun in the sky? Im struggling to get a nice feel for the sky, the sun is lighting my scene along with an HDRi Map, and im happy with the light on the buildings, just not happy with the sky itself, mainly because of the missing sun...:(

I could just change the HDRi i know, but this wouldn't help my problem with the sun? unless i find an HDRi with a sun in it

And help on the subject would be very appreciated,

Thanks

The vray sun should render fine as long as you haven't checked the 'invisible' box. What can be quite misleading at times is that because the sun is essentially at infinity and the gizmo is reasonably close the sun icon in your viewport doesn't show a true representation of your sun position. Chances are the sun is somewhere outwith the frame. Try adjusting the position and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the responses Stef, My HDRi doesn't have a sun in it, but maybe i should just try find one that has a sun? Il give it a go with replacing my HRDi with a V-Ray Sky and see if that works... The only problem then is that i have no clouds etc in the V-Ray sky...

Edit : Ok i tried just using a V-Ray sky and i still get no sun? iv moved it around alot and still no sun rendering? Im looking to create something like this, but maybe not as much of a sun set...

Also i dont want to create a sphere and make that look like a sun...

So from what you have said it is possoble to render a V-Ray sun like a sun in the sky?

It definitely renders fine here, I've attached an image. I've increased the size multiplier of the VraySun here to 6. The best thing though would probably be to comp in a sky in Photoshop which matches the lighting you have rather than worrying too much about making your sky look perfect inside of max.

That saying it's worth trying to build up a decent library of HDRIs, there are plenty free ones out there to get you started. http://www.openfootage.net/ has quite a few.
