Transparent .GIFs

I have been sent a lot of transparent gifs by a client as part of an animated logo.

 

Now i really should know the answer to this but i don't. When i put the gifs to the material slot, the backgrounds appear as white and the same on the model. I'm putting the maps into the diffuse slot.

 

What am i doing wrong?

I just wrote out a reply, but then when I checked it, it didn't work! It seems there's no simple way of doing .gif's in the ME with transparancy. I'm not sure how exactly gif's work, but I'm sure there must be a way of converting them into a targa sequence with transparancy.
