acjwalker
OK i am texturing a bed sheet at the moment and what I want to do it simply bend it in places and add a few creases and folds. How do I go about this so the texture follows the geometry and doesnt distort. Anyone know of any tutorials or general tips?? Cheers
Stephen Thomas
Fran has a great tutorial on her blog relating to modelling bedding: http://surrealstructures.com/blog/?p=229#more-229 As a general texturing tip I would say make sure you have checked the 'Generate mapping coordinates' on your cloth object prior to doing any deforming of the mesh. This mapping will remain embedded in the mesh after you have distorted it to form your bedding. You have to think in terms of allowing the geometry to determine the mapping rather than applying a UVW map to it.
Ricardo Eloy
I normally do bed sheets and such using Cloth, starting from a rectangle. That way, the resulting cloth inherits the rectangle's mapping coordinates, which is a simple planar mapping. Then, I just create a flat map and apply to the deformed cloth. It's a breeze.
