computrina
Hey, I am a beginner with 3ds max and loving it so far. I don't understand why it makes the sceneassets, materiallibraries, proxies, previews, import folders on my desktop when it opens? I'm guessing it doesn't know where to look for the actual folders in the c:/program files folder but don't know how to set these things right. Also every time i open the material library folder from max, it's the empty one on the desktop and it always takes time till i get to the one in the program filex/autodesk folder. It became annoying so i need some advice. Can anyone help, please? Thanks
Crazy Homeless Guy
Your project folder is pointed at your desktop. Point it at the location of your project. Personally, I don't use project folders, but many like them.
computrina
Thanks, I moved it. It didn't use to do that when I had Max 2009 installed. How can I change this use of individual folders per project. Also came across a different issue. I'm using 2010 and vray 1.5 SP3 and my render is beyond slow, though I followed a tutorial for setting Vray up for fast rendering. Same materials and same light on more simple objects - 6min. Twisted poly with a more faces a total of but don't imagine anything too detailed - 1 day and 1 hour. Sorry to bother u with rookie questions but I really wanna use these programs nicely. montecarlomethod
Use the vray forums available chaosgroup. Use the latest version of vray.
