Chad Warner
This is more a question towards David, but before I get into it, I just wanted to thank him for the articles that he submits on CGA. They are very usefaul, and in this case, quite timely. So with that all said: David- Where do you go to find a sales representative? Is it something you advertised for? I was actually toying with the idea of hiring someone to do sales, and your article addresses a lot of the issues that came up. Also, how has hiring a sales person helped business? Thanks, Chad
dwright
You hire them as any other person. Publish at the local paper, Monster, Hotjobs, or craigslist. What you look for is someone that understands B2B sales, and services rather than someone that understands just physical products. Exclusivity is highly recommended, and a must if you are assigning a base. You can also call this position “Business Development” instead of sales. Most of graphic design firms look for “B. Development” Clearly, it helps if you find the right person, otherwise is a negative, because you can contaminate your leads with the wrong character. Cheers and good luck, David
