pcww
What's the consensus on the new Photoshop extended version? I am still a few versions back and looking to upgrade and was wondering if anyone could off an opinion on getting the regular version versus the extended. Are there any tidbits that might help my workflow with Rhino, Sketchup and Octane Render???thanks
JonRashid
Take a look at the content aware fill. It's great for removing unwanted artifacts from your images. Especially good if you do a lot of compositing of buildings in situ.
JamesL
I'm not sure whether it still applies to CS5, but an important difference between CS4 standard and extended was the ability to use layers in a 32-bit file. This wasnt an option with CS4 standard but was in extended - and is essential when working with 32-bit images (particularly if you want to make your own HDRi in Photoshop). There are lots of blogs about the subject:- http://www.photographyuncapped.com/compare-adobe-photoshop-full-extended-versions-cs4-cs5-cs6/digital-photography/2009/09/ http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/03/whats_unique_to_photoshop_extended.html (CS3)
hockley91
I saw a demo at Siggraph and they created a 3D model from a photograph. It looked pretty cool...it wasn't perfect, but a really quick way to create some complicated geometry.
AJLynn
There are a number of features that are 3D-specific. Looks like they might be useful, if you can work them into your workflow.
Crazy Homeless Guy
I saw a demo at Siggraph and they created a 3D model from a photograph. It looked pretty cool...it wasn't perfect, but a really quick way to create some complicated geometry. It seems there have been similar features in previous versions but I have never worked them into my projects. I am wondering of others in the industry have? bzubrick
Can't say much about Rhino, Sketchup, and Octane but experiencing the CS5 32-bit and 64-bit tryout with a quadro fx5600 blew my freakin mind. I have yet to try it out on another video card and don't know if the quadro is deal breaker in the difference but compared to the CS3 trial the perfomance enhancement is through the roof! AJLynn
It's not just the Quadro. The speed improvements (which are only in a few areas as it relates to GPUs) work on most video cards.
pcww
Thanks for all the input. The content aware fill seems pretty neat and might be the tipping point to coughing up the extra bucks. Thanks again
