John Pruden
Hey everyone, I just finished another maxScript called Ceiling Grid Generator. It's a free script that will quickly create 'metal' ceiling grids that you normally see in commercial interior spaces. This script allows you to set custom sizing for the tile openings, the width of the grid, the height of the grid, and also creates the strips along the border for a nice finished look. You can also shift the grid side to side or up and down as well as rotate the grid. You can then preview the final grid, or go back and make more changes before committing to a grid that fits your space perfectly. You can access the script on my website: http://www.digitalxmodels.com/product/detail/679/3d_model_Ceiling%20Grid%20Generator_maxscript and there is a video demo here: Enjoy!!! GUSN
looks great... how do you download without giving all your personal info? James, You basically just give your name & email address. I didn't give out any credit card or personal information.
GUSN
It would be nice though if we could download the file directly without going through all of that.

No pleasing some people Looks handy but I havent tried it. Would be good if you could put light panels in at a specified spacing....
azeta3d
Great! i saw the youtube tutorial and look really useful! I really dont have to do that kind of ceilings often, but now when one appears i am ready with this script! thanks!!
ivanjay
I have not tried it yet but I certainly did download. I use suspended ceilings in almost all of my renderings so I am hoping this will prove to save me some time and look fantastic. I typically just fake it through bump mapping and the results are good enough, but this looks far better! I do agree with the comment of the light options. Would make this a homerun if it could automatically add lights on the grid....
John Pruden
Made a minor update to the script today: v 1.1 8/30/2010 ---- changed grid color to yellow to avoid blending in with light gray viewport backgrounds ---- added support to system scale set to "Feet" and modified min, max, and default settings accordingly ---- modified min, max, and default settings for system scales set to "Meters" and "Millimeters" ---- Command Panel now hides during updates to "Thickness" and "Grid Width" rather than flickering To obtain the most recent version, if you already downloaded v1.0 simply log into your account and in your order history, just re-download the file. nickroz
Any chance to update for Max 2012? I downloaded last night and the script runs into a couple of errors, causing it to not open.
John Pruden
I will look into this over the next couple days and see if I can duplicate the issue and get a new release out.

Jez EMIN
Thanks for this script, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me (it'd be lovely if it did ) I'm on 3DS Max Design 2010 (Windows 7 64bit Ultimate). I get the error as per the attached screen grab. (agree with others, adding a light option would be brilliant).
Scott Schroeder
Thanks for this script, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me (it'd be lovely if it did ) I'm on 3DS Max Design 2010 (Windows 7 64bit Ultimate). It sounds as if Windows is blocking the install, not the script itself. Are you an admin and can you write files to your directory? Especially if you installed Max to the default program files path.
shauncarollo
Anyone know of a similar way to use a script like this for 2012-2014 editions of max? Looks like it would save a lot of time for most of us!
Scott Dombrowski
I just tried it in Max Design 2014 SP1 and it worked fine.
