kmanus
I'm attempting to learn a bit about Sub Scattering Surface shaders. I am making a candle for my first project. My problem is, the bottom of my candle is scattering light the way that the top should. I've attached a picture and my SSS settings, if any one could point me in the right direction as to what I'm missing/doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. Peter M. Gruhn
Poked at it for a bit. Got this far. "Close enough" to get you started.
kmanus
Thanks! I had given up on using SSS Physical for this and opted to use a self illuminating material with a gradient. It works, but I'd rather have a more physically accurate candle. I also really want to get my head around using the SSS shaders.... Here is the render I ended up with, using the self illuminating/gradient method, it's somewhat convincing, but not where I want it to be just yet... Thanks again!
