Tom Hamelrijckx
... I'm making an animation of a curtain that moves along a trail in an exposition room. The animation is done with a background picture, and finished with finaltoon (Effect in Max). At a certain moment the curtain goes behind a reception desk (see picture), so in order solve that area in the image, I put a plane in front of my camera with the background picture as diffuse map, and a mask for that area as opacity map. Since the entire plane is still in front of the camera however, the FinalToon effect isn't applied because everything's 'behind' that plane. How can I solve this? With the masking plane and so without finaltoon effect Without the masking plane and with finaltoon effect Thanks for your suggestions! Peter M. Gruhn
Maybe an explicit mask/matte [sorry, can't remember the name] material will be respected?
ezb
What do you have for video editing software? Could you mask it out in video edit instead of trying to do it in MAX? I'm assuming that the camera isn't moving.
Tom Hamelrijckx
... I'm doing everything in Max, no video-editing. Didn't try matte material yet, since I supposed that if a simple opacity map doesn't do the trick, matte won't be of any help neither...
