emersharif
Hi, does anyone knows about performance drivers issues for our Nividia Quadro? I'm actually working with the nitrous viewport drivers, not so bad, but sometimes i've got some weird problems... I'm a little bit disapointed when i see that a Nvidia GTX 480 is powerfull than my Quadro 4000 with this viewport! Without performance drivers, any interest to work with Quadros... Thanks for your advice. M.
Justin Hunt
I read some where that the maxstream drivers are no longer supported, could be wrong as I never looking into it more. What are your problems? jhv
emersharif
I read some where that the maxstream drivers are no longer supported, could be wrong as I never looking into it more. What are your problems? jhv Hi Justin, Here is a copy of my reply to the same question on the official Nvidia forum... "hello, same thing for us. Recently we switched to 3ds max 2012. We have only workstations with Quadro cards. Let me say first that it is a shame to have on your official forum, no response to this kind of question! We're talking about your high-end, professional and very expensive ... Also it seems to me that the price of your cards, compared to gaming cards, including especially the development of professional drivers?! Before 3ds max 2012, we used the 2009. With the performance drivers, there were over 200% improvement. Currently working with Nitrous, we note that there is very little performance gain between a gaming card and high-end Quadro (eg Geforce GTX 480 vs Quadro 4000). With 3ds max 2009, just a Quadro FX 1400 could be faster than a GTX 480 ... Now can you show the interest for us, 3ds max user, to continue to buy such expensive graphics cards rather than high-end games? Since I use 3ds max, I have always used your products for: 780XGL, FX1400, FX3000, FX3500, FX4000, FX4500, FX4600, FX3700, FX4800, 4000 and 5000 last... I've never been disappointed with these products. From 3ds max 2011, I believe that the development of your drivers is very weak ... To return to Nitrous: it is indeed very fast but poorly thought ... It is very heavy to run. Example of the "bugs": -In wireframe, with the vertex of a polygon mode enabled, you can not see the backface edges. -Sometimes the selection box becomes invisible. -In shaded mode with edges, the selected objects become white, not splines. Why?! -Problems with the display of background textures and sometimes ... and I think you can still discover more ... This expresses quite well the disappointment, not your product, but the development is done then to make the most of. I think not be the only one seeing what others say on other forums. I hope you have good news for us. Otherwise I'm really thincking about turning to ATI FireGL, apparently they have good performance, without the specific drivers are actually cheaper. Thank you for keeping us informed of future Quadro with 3ds max! Best," Hope that's help us to get some news from Nvidia! M.

salvador
Hi! I use a Quadro FX 580 and have all the latest drivers including the PD driver. I use Max 2011 x64. Everything runs fine except for one thing: There is a big prblem when it comes to selecting objects in shaded viewports. I have to click several times in order to get the object I want selected; this doesn't happen in wireframe view and it's really annoying. I reverted to Direct3D 9.0 (even when I have 10.0) and all this problems are gone, at the expense of viewport performance. Anyone with a similar issue or a workaround? Thanks. Hi Salvador, are you sure this is the subject of this thread??? You're talking of an other problem... I'm talking here about 3DS max 2012 and the PD. Please create your own thread. Thanks. M. Mario De Achadinha
Hi All We installed the service packs from autodesk for 2012 and sorted out the problems with view ports. But it created a whole lot of other ones!!!! I thought nitrous was very powerful, but had too many bugs, so back to direct 3d:(

MrCAD
well forgot to mention ..but I had the viewport speed problem for a big scene of 1.5 million polys..so found the solution from the below links thread..and found that I was not the only one http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-3ds-max--3ds-max-design-2012/new-nvidia-29610-driver-much-more-less-lags-viewports-isnt-it#p260898 Meher
