Patrick25
Hi! I'm looking for a missing step that would make possible, in 3DS MAX, to replace 2d/CAD element by 3d objects. For instance, you want to replace 2d chairs by 3d chairs, so you just needed to select one, do - missing magic - and then select the other one. I remember they were issues easily fixable with the orientation... does anyone know what I am talking about? I forgot to do that trick and I need help. Thank you guys. Best Regards. LukeC
If you make your 2d chairs blocks in autocad and import them into max using By Element, you can then use a clone and align to those imported blocks and (assuming you have set your blocks up right in autocad) it will align correctly to your chairs. Blocks retain their rotation when importing into max (same as using points) so the above can be a handy method for placing objects of different orientation quickly. Patrick25
Thank you, Luke. The thing I was looking for was the Clone and Align Tool in the Extras Toolbox... and I couldn't put a name on it.
