erickdt
Your environment map is set to screen. Drag the map into the material editor and switch its mapping to spherical environment. E

erickdt
Where did you change it? In the VRay environment rollout under "Reflection/Refraction Environment Over-ride" or in the MAX environment window? You want to change it in the VRay environment tab. Sorry, I should have been more clear. E
Devin Johnston
I don't think your seeing through the object, it looks like a reflection of the other side of the scene to me.
koncaliev
here are my setings: I think that there are the reflections + the problem of background visible through vray objects Edited March 14, 2012 by koncaliev

Devin Johnston
Ok well that's why it looks like you're seeing through it because all the scene has to reflect is that picture. I thought it was a 360 degree image since you were using spherical mapping but it's just a regular image and so your object is just reflecting what it sees. I hope that makes since. koncaliev
maybe you can try to render a simple scene like this and post the results with the settings
Devin Johnston
Since you have a map in the reflection override slot your material is reflecting whatever that map is, when you set the same map as your background it make it appear as though your material is transparent when it really isn't. koncaliev
well, what are the best settings for rendering an object on a photo in vray and 3ds max? Thank you so much!

frog_a_lot
Try this.. Drag your environment background into your "Vray enviroment and reflection" slots in vray. Press '8' or open up your environment menu, turn off "use map" It is seeing your environment map as a refraction map as well,
rebekahkim
Hi! Can you do the same with all pictures? I mean to show them through vray objects? ___________________________ audio editor http://audioeditorfree.com/
