Geometry to spline

Hello. I'd like to ask you if you know, or if is there any way in 3ds max to obtain the splines on the centers of these cylinders, I mean, one spline on the center of each one. I know the create shape from edges technique, but I am looking for something that allow me create the spline on the core of the geometry. Let's suppose we have one million of these cylinders, and, in order to save polygons we want convert them to rendereable splines. How could I do that? I hope I make myself clear. Thanks.

If you create a cylinder then use the align tool this will make the spline in the middle of your cylinder.

you cannot covert a cylinder down to an editable spline it's just not possible because a cylinder in 3d and the spline is 2d you convert it down to a 3d object

Nothing is coming to mind for a UI based approach. If your model is sufficiently like your example, then it should be possible for a script to do the job. It does look like your end caps are not perpendicular to the length of the cylinder; I don't think that can be accomplished with renderable splines.

It wouldn't matter really, I thought on the possibility when I saw a model of OnyxBroadleaf, because certain parts could be splines in order to save a lot of polygons, but there is not a way to do that on the Onyx app.
