VrayScatter on Maya

Hey guys,

 

I am testing VrayScatter for Maya and i've been getting ridiculously long render times for not that great results. Please take a look at all the images I am including and tell me if there is something I am doing wrong. Max users using Vray, please chime in too considering I've seen 3dmax users render vast forests really fast.

 

I forgot to add a screen shot of the shader but all trees are conversions from the xfrog europe pack converted to Vray Maya. I turned off all filters and later also removed all opacity maps as it still took forever. So 47 Hours for this is EVEN without opacity maps. No fresnel, no roughness and no reflection on any of the shaders which are all using VrayMtrl

 

Where am I going wrong? I could have sworn I tried proxy in MR and got very fast results. Please advise.
