thurazaw
Hi all, I have landed to London olympic website and noticed that image on video player and website background (at the bottom of the page) seem like a rendered image. I can see the beautiful sky, sun direction, reflection, really nice colour over all. This is the link to view, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/2012/live-video/p00w2y7j I would like to know, is it a rendered (photorealistic) image? If so, Why is it used instead of real photopraph? many thanks Edited August 1, 2012 by thurazaw
Simon Moir
It's not a photo- I guess it's a matte painting / 3D to fit all the landmark buildings into one beautiful view. Probably Passion Pictures: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18960004
Guest calumreid
Yeah was about to say it looks like a painting, probably done digitally but not sure.
Chris MacDonald
Defnitely a matte painting to fit all the landmarks into one image, for example battersea power station is in the bottom right of the image where in fact it's a mile or two down the river, amongst other things. Whether it's done with rendering of photo-composites I don't know.
xEndlessxUrbiax
Can't see image. I get this message when I click on the link "I'm sorry, we can't show this content in your area." Bollocks
thurazaw
The link must have been expired, please visit to this one instead, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/2012/live-video/bbc_one_2012_hd How do you think lighting and painting/colour used in the picture? I am not really good at expression but I think, it give me a warm evening feeling and I like the reflection effect on the water and the small bridge. Also the orange lighting/the sun source behind the big ben give the texture on the picture I think.
xEndlessxUrbiax
I'm still getting the same message telling me I can't see content in my area. I don't know if it's because I'm in the U.S.A. or in Illinois or in the Chicagoland area... Anyone else getting this problem? I want to be able to access all parts of the internet gosh darn it. Justin Hunt
Its an Olympics thing, each country can only access images etc licensed to that country. jhv
