Grechkawm
Hello everybody! Really really need help as soon as possible! Got my sectional perspective modeled in Rhino, then brought it to 3ds Max and got it rendered. Now I need to get 2D linework over the rendering and have no idea how to do a typical "make 2d" rhino trick in Max. I tried pulling the image in rhino and adjusting the camera to match it, but however Rhino does not really have camera object and it is pretty much impossible to match the view angle and camera settings. I would really appreciate some help!
Corey Beaulieu
Try collapsing your section faces into a single object. With an Edit poly on it, you will be able to select the edges you want a line from and the use the "Create Shape" button to make lines. After this, hide your geometry and place a renderable spline modifier on your splines. This will allow you to render a Raster version of your line work to overlay your rendered geometry. Corey Beaulieu
Also, you could try this with a vray toon shade or even just an ink and paint material override on your geometry as is: http://www.alexhogrefe.com/3d-blueprint/2011/7/3/3d-blueprint-tutorial.html#entry11999234

jasonpierce
The above suggestions work, but I always want my line work to be vector crisp and editable in post. To get true vector line work out of 3dsmax you will need a plug in. Illustrate! by david gould is the best one I know of. This plug in will let you edit all of the line work in illustrator just like rhino make 2d. The down side is, it costs money (albeit not much money at the student rate), if any of you know alternate, 3dsmax native means for producing vectors please advise. http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/index.html

Crazy Homeless Guy
Go the other direction. Set your camera in Rhino, and then follow these directions to get a perfect match in Max. http://forums.cgarchitect.com/33845-rhino-max.html#post235052
