I want to first say that you're in a great position, because your work speaks for itself :D

In regards to your site; this is a great start considering you're just learning HTML / CSS. My biggest bit of feedback would be to think more about the UX (user experience) of the site; right now it's a bit unclear as to what your "goal" is for the site, and how well the site actually accomplishes that. From what I can tell, it serves as a simple portfolio / gallery. At first glance, it does so well enough, but once I start clicking around on things, I start to get lost with where exactly I'm going. For example, if I click on one of the image thumbnails, it changes the image in the slideshow, but then continues flipping through the images without my input. It's a little unclear if by clicking on those thumbnails, I'm accessing a larger set of images, or just that one image.

OVerall, I think it's a good start!

Thank you Alexander for your kind words and feedback.

I see what you mean, and am looking into clarifying the navigation process more. Basically the thumbnails are projects, and when you click on them an automated slideshow of images from the project are displayed. I should add bullets representing the new thumbnails and allow users the option of manual navigation as well.

Thanks again, much appreciated =)

No problem. Speaking of design portfolios, I actually recently redesigned / redeveloped my own, if you care to take a look. You can check it out at http://arccentric.com

I went the same route that you're on now, and taught myself html, css, php, and javascript. Doing so actually ended up causing me to do a lot of web projects in the last couple years, as I'm sure you'll see (although I'm making a much stronger push to be doing architecture + 3d work right now).
