rustylamante Posted August 2, 2013 Share Posted August 2, 2013 I've been working with max 2014 for a couple of weeks now and just run into this problem - when trying to create a MR proxy, max decides to close after bringing up that lil mr proxy preview box. When i re-open the file and load the proxy file into my scene it seems to work ok though.. Anyone else had any trouble creating mr proxies? CJI Posted August 2, 2013 Share Posted August 2, 2013 This is a bug I have run in to since max 2009. Mental ray crashes on rendering the proxy preview but the proxy is still created. I found if I made sure the "use placeholder" box in the render settings > processing that it fixed the problem. This is usually turned on when using forest pro etc. So when creating new proxies just make sure to turn this off, then back on when done. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've been having the same problem and thought it was related to DBR because I always checked "use placeholder" when using DBR and unchecked it when not.
