Alpha Channel Import Problem

Hi

 

I'm struggling to get my alpha channels (16bit RGB tif files) into a 16bit RGB psd file.

 

I use control/left click to select the alpha then right click-duplicate channel and it is not giving me the option to copy into the psd.

 

Any ideas or other ways to import alphas?

Are the PSDs the same size?

The files are the same size yes, but I'm only working with one psd. The alphas I'm using are all tif files.

when you have the PSD as your current file go to Select - Load Selection - then choose the open .TIFF from the dropdown. If its not there then for some reason its incompatible. Usually its either the mode (bit-depth / CMYK etc) or its a different size that makes it unable to work.

Otherwise you can select your channel, make it a solid on a layer and drag/drop the layer to the new file. Then you flatten it and copy/paste to a channel.

I'd changed the camera focal length and frame width in the alpha Max file. When I adjusted it to match the psd, the tiff files imported fine. So as you suggested it was a size compatibility issue.
