RogerC
I'm just wondering if there are people in this forum using Revit as a modeler to create models to be rendered in 3ds Max. I just curious of the workflow people are using, to get high quality renders.
Francisco Penaloza
Yes there is, just do a search in the forum with REVIT and 3D Max keyword and you'll find several post talking about workflows, problems and solutions.

jasonstewart
I am exporting my Revit Model out in different "components" and importing (not linking) because this makes my life easier in Max if I need to adjust/change things. I generally export my roof, doors, windows, exterior walls, the site all out separately. Throw them on layers when importing them and you can easily isolate different elements if you need to. Works well enough for me. One thing that sucks is that I build my sites in Revit and the imports are horrible. If you import it into a new max file and then export it out as a OBJ and reimport it then it can be subdivided and worked on much better than the straight import. If you have specific questions feel free to hit me up, unfortunately I have done this quite a few times haha. At work we use Revit to design all of our projects so I don't want to spend the extra time modeling everything from scratch when the Revit model is more or less good enough to use. RogerC
Jason, Actually the landscape part from Revit we usually toss completely and rebuild it in 3ds Max. We sometimes add detail to sites that never come from our client model. I'll give your idea of making separate exports a try. thanks cheers rec
